Trailing 9-7 in the 9th inning, the Muskies rallied for a comeback victory. Dan O'Connell's 2-run double tied it in the 9th inning, and Jake Sweeter's bases loaded single won it in the 10th inning. O'Connell and Sweeter both finished the game with 3 RBI.

The victory gives the Muskies a high seed entering the region 10C tournament next weekend. The team will play Clear Lake on Saturday at 4:00 PM in it's first game. The region 10C tournament will be held in Freeport.

Under amateur baseball's unique drafting system, the Muskies were also able to add 2 pitchers from the Ultimate Sports Snappers. Brad Haag and Dave Koenig were drafted and can help the Muskies the rest of the postseason. Haag just completed his college career at Southwest Minnesota State after 2 years at Ridgewater CC. Koenig will be a redshirt junior next season at St. Cloud State University.

Against St. Joseph, the Muskies jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. Josh Rathbun's 2-run double keyed a 3-run first inning, and Sweeter's 2-run single capped a 3-run 2nd inning. St. Joseph had a comeback of their own, getting 2 runs in the 3rd inning and 4 more in the 4th, tying the game at 6-6.

Brian Schellinger led Sartell with 3 hits, while Luke Schumer had 3 hits for St. Joseph.

Prior to the game the Muskies honored 3 individuals who helped build Champion Field, originally called Muskie Field, in 1981. Last Monday, the Sartell city council approved an agreement with the Sartell Baseball Association that will demolish the current structures and replace them with new dugouts and storage, and eventually add flush toilets.

Dave Guggenberger, Dean Taylor, and Tom Gaughan were amoung the founding Muskies who built Champion Field with their labor and fund raising. Those 3 men, along with past SBA President Tom Steve, threw out ceremonial pitchers prior to the game. Many of the other Muskies who contributed to the Muskie Field project weren't able to make the ceremony, but will be honored in the future.
